Argyll District

Argyll District is predominantly based on the Argyll and Bute local authority administrative territory and covers an area of 2,667 sq miles. There are six Scout groups which are based in Tobermory on Mull, Oban, Ardchattan, Lochgilphead, Campbeltown and Sandbank.

Mull, Oban and Sandbank own their own halls which could potentially be hired by other groups. Lochgilphead own a rustic barn with camping pitches which is also available to other groups and will be more so once toilets have been installed.

Argyll is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream with lots of access to lochs, rivers and hillwalking and some of the most breathtaking scenery Scotland has to offer.

Argyll previously felt inaccessible to visitors from the central belt due to the cost of hiring coaches but the initiative to allow people under 22 to travel free on buses has changed the game. It is possible to reach Lochgilphead, Campbeltown and Oban by service bus directly from Glasgow. Mull is a short ferry journey from Oban and Sandbank can be reached by ferry from Gourock. Ardchattan can be reached by bus from Oban
